What is the purpose of the Access Equity application?
The scholarship is intended to reduce part or all of the cost of a Spinning Babies® 2021 World Confluence.
When is the 2021 conference?
October 22, 23, and 24, 2021.
Where is the conference being held?
This conference is not in-person for 2021, but being held virtually due to the Covid-19 Pandemic. More information on how to access the conference online will be provided to registered participants closer to the event.
Will I receive continuing education credits for my attendance to the conference?
Continuing education credits are not guaranteed but are offered based on attendance and a score of 70% or higher on the post-test of eligible sessions.
Who is eligible to apply for the scholarship?
Eligible recipients are Black or Indigenous Birth Professionals who are actively practicing or a student in birth work, pregnancy bodywork, or childbirth education fields.
Do I qualify for the scholarship if I am a retired birth worker?
No. This scholarship is not intended for retired birth workers or people who are not actively teaching or attending births.
How many scholarships are available to be redeemed?
There are a total of 30 spots available, although if applicant’s are able to pay some of the conference fee, Spinning Babies® may be able to award more scholarships to more people.
Will there be a waiting list if the 30 spots fill up?
Yes. Spinning Babies® may be able to provide more scholarships for the 2021 World Confluence, and the waitlist will be contacted if more scholarships become available.
When is the application deadline?
Applications for this scholarship are due on or before June 21, 2021.
When will I be notified of an approval or denial of my application for a scholarship?
Notifications will be sent out on Thursday, July 1, 2021.
How will I be notified of my acceptance or denial for the scholarship?
Spinning Babies® will contact each applicant via the email provided in the application with their application's status.
Will I be sent a reminder email if I miss the first notification that was sent out?
Non-registered Equity Access recipients will receive two separate reminder emails. One will be sent 7 days before their code expiration date and another will be sent 1 day before their code expiration date.
If my application is accepted, how do I register for the conference at the discounted price?
Notifications will be sent to recipients on July 1, 2021 which will include a discount code to be used at registration checkout.
How long will my discount registration code be active for?
Codes will be active through July 15, 2021 for registration.
What if I miss my notification that I’ve been granted a scholarship?
We anticipate a high demand for our limited scholarship spots. If recipients do not register within the allotted time frame we may offer their spot to another applicant.
If I miss the first application deadline will I have an opportunity to be placed on a waitlist?
It is a possibility that a waitlist may open up for additional scholarships.
What if I am granted a scholarship and I am unable to attend the conference?
If you find you are unable to attend, please let us know ASAP so we can offer access to another participant. However, participants may note that all registered attendees will have access to the conference sessions until March 2022.
How is an applicant's payment amount determined?
The applicant is asked to choose the option they are most comfortable with contributing towards their conference fee; $0, $100 or $200.
How does an applicant choose the amount they are comfortable paying?
Under section 5, “Registration Contribution”, there is a multiple choice option where the applicant marks what they are willing to pay.
Is the 2021 World Confluence Add-on Session by Karen Strange included as part of Equity Access scholarship?
No, however, the Add-on Session may be purchased for $24.97 upon registration.
